Telstra Wireless Broadband Plans Cheaper

Telstra have announced new wireless broadband plans available from 18th January. The plans offer more data for cheaper prices and new levels of data to give more flexibility. Also no additional usage will be charged on any of the plans.

Standard monthly costs will be $39.95 for 1GB, $49.95 for 2GB, $79.95 for 6GB and $119.95 for 10GB. Discounts of $10 per month will apply to all plans on 24 month plans with a Telstra home phone and $20 per month discount with a home phone plus one other Telstra service.

The plans are more expensive than the same data allowance from other main providers. For example, 3 Mobile offer 6GB per month for $39 compared with Telstra’s $79.95. However, the Telstra Next G network is by far the most extensive. The plans will appeal to people within Next G coverage areas and outside the coverage from other networks.

“Cheaper”. And then in a subsequent paragraph “The plans are more expensive than the same data allowance from other main providers”.

    They sure as hell are!

In fact, your statement that they are cheaper is a load of bollocks.

I am on a Tesltra WirelessBroadband Plan (24 months), and I am getting 5 Gb for $19.95. And this was set up prior to the date of this article. Looks to me like the “new” rates are a damned sight more expensive.

This is the sort of hogwash we do not need. It should be made absolutely clear that whereas Telstra offers good coverage (not that much better than Vodafone I might add), for any thinking potential customer, it has really priced itself out of the market by about a factor of 2.

A boycott of Telstra Broadband would result in an immediate reduction of prices in accordance with what the others are charging.

And when it comes to customer service, Telstra is without a doubt, the worst, that is, of the lowest standard of any telecommunications company I have had anything to do with.
